The March is a landscaper who has been stuck in the abyss for an unknown amount of time. He entered some time after the death of his daughter Alice, and entered with his Friend. His Friend died at some point in a manner March refuses to talk about.
He carries two shovels with him: one is his, and one is Friend's. Friend's shovel has a black ribbon tied around it.
HISTORY w/ THE MATRON March blames the Matron for Alice's death because he believes the Jabberwock works for her. He entered the abyss via digging below Alice's grave. After 666 feet he and Friend fell into the abyss.
The Matron has refused to talk to March because he is too aggressive. He views this as proof of culpability, whereas she merely finds him brutish and repulsive.
HISTORY w/ ABADDON Abaddon suggested to Friend that the Matron might control the Jabberwock, and confirmed upon contact that the Jabberwock is in the abyss. Abaddon has long been after Friend's arms, and manipulated March's grief to lure the two into the abyss.
HISTORY w/ THE JABBERWOCK March witnessed the Jabberwock at Alice's funeral, and when he tried to chase after it found a copy of Alice in Wonderland. This coincidence obsessed him, and he began to fixate on the idea of reaching wonderland, where she might now be.
The Jabberwock did not in fact have anything to do with his daughter's death. It merely showed up in case other children were around that it could prey on.
