Thousands of years ago, the Gods created a race called Psi. The Psi originally existed in the Outer Plane, along with Gods, and filled the position of Angels. The Psi were too weak though, and their existance in the Outer Plane became meaningless. The Gods decided it would be better to let the Psi live in the Inner Plane, where they could build cities and do as they pleased, not restricted by the overpowering presence of the gods. As the Psi descended to the inner plane, the Gods granted them a birth-right: the ability to use the gods' powers in the Inner Plane.

On the Inner Plane, the Gods had to create rules and regulations to allow the Psi to exist, reproduce, create, and destroy. The Gods created plants and animals for the Psi to eat, and allowed the animals to adapt and change; to evolve. The Psi were placed on a continent (Homeland) of the planet Ager, where they began to build cities and fortresses.

Unfortunately, the Psi were arrogant. They devoured the resources of the land, and this was something the gods would not intervene on. It was far too interesting. So the Psi decided their only method of survival was to leave Homeland. Unfortunately, Homeland was surrounded by a Watery barrier of whirlpools and waves, making exit by boat impossible. The Gods had not intended the Psi to leave.

But leave they did, for they invented flight. They harnessed the power of the winds, building massive flying citadels which with they could leave their lands. The first of their citadels crashed over a mountain, but after that point they fixed the issues and left Homeland.

After they had gone, something strange was happening over the crash site of the first citadel. The citadel had crashed into the side of a mountain which was inhabited by many a group of Rock monkeys, and the magical force of it had caused mutations in them. Their rate of evolution began to change, so that in a series of only 100 generations, these monkeys had evolved to a point of intelligence. They began to form societies, and in the year of 1 CE, they formed the city of Clysta in the ruins of the mountain, calling themselves Humans. The lands began to rejuvenate, and they began to spread out and rule it for themselves.

At some point, Humans tried to leave Homeland. After multiple attempts, one vessel made it past the Watery barrier to the Other lands. This group of Humans encountered the Psi, who were amazed by the existance of any other sentient races on the planet. The Gods were even more surprised, as they had no knowledge of them. (See Humans for further explanation.)

The Gods, deciding that such a chaotic element was undesirable, ordered the Psi to exterminate Humans. They gladly would oblige, as they were deeply offended by the Humans' intelligence. With Psi Lord Dalganoth heading the armies, they took their citadels and returned to Homeland, to begin their war against the Humans.

At this point, Tale of the Psi takes place.
