Nobody wants to engage in menial labour. That's why ARCO arose to solve that age-old question: How do we get rid of the worst jobs? Well no longer do we have any reason to hire people, as robots and self-cleaning buildings are the answer of the future!
History
This part is pretty much empty we need a lot more like stat.
Employment
There are several routes for employment in ARCO, though some have come under a lot of fire in recent years.
Dangerous Unit Handlers
ARCO originally began by offering high-risk jobs to the homeless, and prisoners, as most medical testing corporations did. However these jobs involved constructing theoretical structures, using various materials that were extremely uncommon (and thus couldn't be adequately trained for in public academic structures). The company's NDAs were originally extremely exclusive, to the point that the government requested them to change it as employees were resisting questioning by authorities in various cases. [citation purged] Some evidence also shows that employees were used in dangerous “Robotics Training Programs.” The subjects were not the ones being trained.
In recent years, this practice has been weened out by the Canadian government, though they have not been forced to fire any members. In addition, they have been gaining more employees in this sector through several government deals, namely ██-██████, Counter-terrorism Bill ███, Retrainment Encampent Program █, and ████████.
Personal Military
ARCO, as most other large megacorporations in this era, has a personal guard military. They have traditionally hired ex-military people who have been discharged under various details that are irrelevant to them, or military men who are out of active duty. They also have on occassion hired ex-cops, however this is rare. One ex-employee reported to a news outlet that he was fired on grounds of being “too talkative.” He was not available for a second comment.
Security Procedures
Because ARCO engages in very advanced research and development, as well as hiring of abnormal individuals, they sometimes come across situations that must be dealt with an extra level of caution. In addition to the standard colour-coded alert system, events are archived and classified into three groups.
All objects of class C or B will be analyzed with the help of ███ ███ ██████████ during a yearly review. If deemed too dangerous after this reviewing period, they will be transferred and given entirely to their care.
Class C
Indirect paranormal situations, such as slight euclidean collapse, curses, unusual tendencies in personnel, madness, or breach of robotic protocol. Management will handle the situation.
Class B
Direct paranormal situations, including bloodline abilities among personnel, anomalous objects or areas, magic, machine learning. Containment and analysis necessary, any final decisions must be authorized by The Architect.
Class A
Special paranormal, high alert, hyperreality incursion, ascension, AI sentience. In the event of a Class C event, immediately contact ███ ███ ██████████.
Mercenary Contracts
ARCO will, on occasion, contract various mercenaries to help in situations when legality is more ambiguous. Though there is record of contact, and governments have tried to plant insurgents in the company, the company never outright asks anything illegal; they merely have a penchant for hiring individuals who have little worry of breaking the law.
Frequently hired mercenaries include The March.
Engineers, Scientists, and other Civilians
Most employees of ARCO are obtained in the usual ways, through applications or scouting. However, after the Psychological Evaluation Allowance Act of Canada, ARCO has begun bidding on specifically hiring troubled individuals to work in their more unusual establishments, which often require more abnormal minds for their work.
Plot-Relevant Locations
ARCO has bases all across Canada, a few in europe, and a small scattering across the USA. There are, however, some specifically relevant ones.
These definitely need some expansion, but probably will be once I get to the relevant plots
Noctowne
Development and Research
For more details on Noctowne, or the Development and Research Center, see its page.
The complex in Noctowne largely focuses on magnetism, in terms of power generation, robotics, and structures. Several large breakthroughs have come out of their center, including several structural supports which were instrumental in protecting large towers in San Francisco during recent earthquake events.
