Homosexuality is viewed differently depending on the area. It is never disallowed, but it is either looked down upon, or nobody really cares. Homosexuality is no kind of “sin,” except in some small sects, who in general view sexual activity as sinful. Due to the lack of an organized human religion, there is no widespread persecution. It is both emotional, and recreational.
In a small town environment it is expected for every man to either move out to a big city or get married and raise a family. However if he lives with another man, he is incapable of raising a family. Many of the villages in the central region of the continent, such as the people of Miland, are not fond of it, and actively discourage it.
Due to larger poor populations, which tend to have higher birth rates, it is not unusual for nobles to practice recreational homosexuality. Not so much men who love other men, so much as hedonists who enjoy sexual activity, and will involve their male friends because there is no reason for them to avoid doing so. Adoption of poor children is also possible, if two homosexual men in the city want to raise a family.
The only exception, in both these cases, is marriage. However, it is not religious. Marriage is defined in relation to offspring, thus a couple may only be married if they have children, or are planning to have children. A homosexual couple, however, can often take charge of an orphan, in which cases they are granted the same protections as a heterosexual couple.
